Introduction

This tutorial explains the steps to change the transverse arm on the front axle. The intervention is on the left side but is identical on the right side.

The model used is an e91 330d phase 1

  1.
Securing the vehicle: removing and refitting the wheel

Even if you only work on one side, you have to lift the vehicle from the sides to be able to turn the wheels when you remove the screw that holds the arm to the chassis.

  2.
Bras transversal

If you are equipped with xenon headlights, you will only have this lighting beam adjustment sensor on the left arm.

Hello Christophe,

Yes you are right, make a tutorial in the series 5 section, it will be useful for those who have this model.

Sincerely

Laurent,

I thought we could create a short tutorial for the 5 series by referencing yours (same steps and great pictures) by updating the necessary tools. What do you think?

PS I did a test while waiting for your answer but it does not update. So delete my error

Sincerely

Hello Laurent,

I confirm the inversion, on my new part without notch, it was clearly marked L.

The difficulties were also reversed, chassis side no worries while on the rocket side, I had to turn into Hulk to unscrew the screw. Now it rolls almost perfectly, almost because it pulls a little to the right. I must have forced too hard!

PS: I needed keys 18 & 21 and not 18 & 22.

Hello Laurent,

The sensor mounting therefore seems to be reversed on the E91 & E61. Review tomorrow on the bridge….

Hello Christophe,

So I have a small notch on the left side for the headlight sensor because I have directional xenons, but nothing on the right because there is no sensor on the right.
