Introduction
Access to the fuel pump is not optimal. That said, it is not necessary to disassemble everything; here we will simply make room with a minimum of disassembly.
-
-
undo the air sleeve retaining clip by turning it 1/4 turn and pulling upwards, then open the clip (circled in red) to be able to freely move the starter, accelerator and fuel hose cables
-
remove the hot air pipe (it is just fitted)
-
Unscrew the air sleeve clamp with a 7mm wrench (or a Phillips screwdriver) and release the sleeve from the air intake pipe
-
-
-
remove the carburetor cover fixing screw using the 10mm wrench
-
unclip the clip from the headdress
-
you can use a flat screwdriver to pry
-
remove the breather hose and unclip the other hose right next to it (blue arrow)
-
-
-
tilt the air box/air sleeve/carburetor shroud assembly backwards to make room
-
-
-
Place a rag around the pump to avoid getting petrol everywhere and loosen the fuel outlet hose clamp with the 7mm wrench
-
pull to remove the fuel inlet and outlet hoses
-
remove the cloth, unscrew the two pump fixing screws using the 13mm key and remove everything
-
-
-
remove the old paper gasket with a scraper or other similar tool
-
make sure the surface is completely clean
-
-
-
compare the two pumps: we see here that the new pump is different from the old one but they are totally compatible
-
Do not hesitate to call a professional if in doubt.
-
Check the condition of the fuel filter and fuel hoses: if they are damaged or too old, it is better to change everything
-
-
-
present the pump with its new paper seal and its 2 fixing screws
-
tighten the 2 pump fixing screws with the 13mm key
-
then put the fuel hoses back and tighten the outlet hose clamp with the 7mm wrench
-
The inlet hose does not have a clamp because we operate here with very low pressures.
-
-
-
insert the air sleeve into the air intake pipe then tighten the clamp using the 7mm wrench
-
then lock its retaining clip
-
reposition the hot air pipe
-
-
-
Place the cover on the carburetor and tighten the retaining screw using the 10mm wrench.
-
then lock the retaining clip
-
reinstall the oil breather hose
-
-
-
Replace the starter, throttle and fuel hose cables in the plastic clip and lock it
-
reattach the hose which is located just next to the oil breather
-
reconnect the battery and start it up, making sure there are no leaks
