Introduction
The car on which the intervention is being carried out had its engine light on with a fault code P0010: Camshaft sensor, bank 1 - circuit fault.
The camshaft phase shifter is the most likely cause of the failure. It is an actuator that manages the car's VTI system. The Peugeot reference is 1920.KR. It is a part that costs 170e new in dealerships.
This operation is not very complicated in itself but access is not obvious. So I took some photos on a removed engine because it was almost impossible to get clear images otherwise.
Tools
Parts
-
-
the phase shifter is located on the distribution side
-
behind the oil dipstick
-
right next to the intake manifold
-
-
-
remove the screw holding the oil dipstick tube, 10mm wrench
-
unclip the clip holding the computer harness in place

spread the clamp that holds the breather hose in place (I used fine-nose pliers)
-
then remove it
-
and put it aside
-
-
-
disconnect the phase shifter plug by pressing the tab and pulling
-
unscrew the phase shifter retaining screw, 10mm wrench
-
remove the phase shifter by simply pulling it
-
-
-
compare the 2 actuators and clean the new part if you are using second hand (I just used a lint free cloth)
-
clean the bearing on the engine block (oil will have leaked)
-
-
-
introduce the phase shifter on the motor
-
make sure to position the phase shifter leg correctly
-
screw in the phase shifter retaining screw, 10mm wrench
-
As stated in the introduction, these photos were taken on a removed engine for clarity.
-

-
put the calculator harness clip back in place (you should hear a "click")
-
check that everything is in place
-
-
-
turn on the ignition
-
read faults with the diagnostic tool
-
clear the fault
