Introduction

The spark plugs are changed every 30,000 km as a preventative measure. This operation is very simple on the Skoda Felicia because access is really ideal.

  1.
The spark plugs are located at the front of the engine (red rectangle), they will be changed one by one to avoid reversing the ignition cables

disconnect the ignition harness

We do not pull on the wire, we must take the bundle by its end.

    • clean the spark plug well with a blower (a can of computer air may possibly do the trick)

  2.
unlock the spark plug with the ratchet wrench, small extension and 16mm long socket (1/2 turn should be enough)

finish unscrewing by hand

  3.
compare spark plugs and ensure compatibility

we see here that the original spark plug has 3 electrodes while the new one has 4: this has no importance and no impact on the performance or consumption of the engine (we can choose a spark plug with 1, 2, 3 or 4 electrodes)

refer to the candle's technical data sheet or its packaging in case of doubt

  4.
introduce the new spark plug and hand tighten using the 16mm extension and socket only

There should be no resistance at first. Do not insist if it is too hard or you may damage the thread.

finish tightening with the torque wrench, torque of 28N.m

    • Put the beam back in place by pressing on it

    • A thin layer of dielectric grease can be applied to the ceramic portion and spark plug tip before reconnecting).

  5.
proceed in the same way for the other 3 candles
