Introduction

How to change spark plugs on Renault Clio 2 1.4 16v engine.

Spark plugs should preferably be changed every 30,000 km as a preventative measure.

  1. lift the lower part of the cover pull the cover towards you remove the cover

  2. remove the sheath protecting the electrical wiring of the coil from its housing undo the coil plug by pressing the tab and pulling towards you Put the card aside

  3. unscrew the coil fixing screw with a 10mm wrench remove the coil clean the coil well with a blower (if not, a can of computer air will do the trick)

  4. unscrew the spark plug using the ratchet wrench, extension and 16mm spark plug socket If the spark plug is tight, unscrew it a little and screw it back in, then repeat the operation until there is no more blockage.

  5. compare spark plugs to make sure they are compatible

    • At this stage, a thin layer of dielectric grease can be applied to the upper part of the spark plug.

  7. place the coil on the spark plug and press on top tighten the coil fixing screw with the 10mm key reconnect the coil plug

    • Don't forget to put the sheath back in its housing.

  8. change the other 3 spark plugs, one after the other

  9. the cover has 4 lugs that must be inserted into 4 staples engage the bottom lugs into the clips by pushing once the bottom lugs are in position, engage the front lugs by simply pressing
