Introduction

Replacing spark plugs on 0.9 TCE petrol engine

Provide a 14mm long socket capable of fitting into the spark plug wells (less than or equal to 20mm in outside diameter).

  1. Remove the pipe going to the brake master cylinder from its housings adjacent to the rigid turbo compressor outlet pipe (red rectangle). Cut the clamps on the turbo compressor outlet hoses (orange rectangle). Using a 10 mm diameter socket, unscrew the 2 nuts from the rigid pipe (orange circle).

    • Remove the hoses while removing the rigid turbo compressor outlet pipe.

    • Blow out the locations near the spark plug ignition coils (blue arrows).

    • Remove the 3 spark plug connectors by pressing the tab (green arrows).

  2. Unscrew the 3 ignition coil screws using an 8 mm diameter socket (orange circle). Remove ignition coil #1 by pulling upwards (green circle). I recommend treating the candles one by one so as not to introduce dirt into the wells.

    • Using a 14mm long narrow socket, unscrew and remove spark plug #1.

    • Check that there is no dirt in the spark plug well. Otherwise, treat the problem.

  3. Fit the new spark plug and screw it in using a 14 mm diameter long socket and the extension without using a wrench. 4. Tighten using a torque wrench to 2.4 daN.m. Lightly grease the ignition coil head (orange circle) using a universal grease. Reinstall the ignition coil.

    • Lightly grease the ignition coil head (orange circle) using a universal grease.

    • Reinstall the ignition coil.

    • Repeat the operation for the other 2 spark plugs.

    • For the second spark plug, remove the fuel and oil recycling vapor pipe by squeezing the connector (orange arrow) then lifting it (green arrow).

  5. Screw in the 3 ignition coil retaining screws using an 8 mm diameter socket (orange circle). Tighten the 3 screws using a torque wrench to 1 daN.m. Reassemble the 3 spark plug connectors (green rectangles).

    • Reassemble the 3 spark plug connectors (green rectangles).

    • Replace the fuel and oil recycling vapor hose connector (blue rectangle).

    • Using a cloth, clean the internal inlet of the flexible hoses and the 2 inlets of the rigid outlet pipe of the turbo compressor.

  6. Put 2 new clamps on the hoses.
    • Put 2 new clamps on the hoses.

    • The turbo side diameter is approximately 51 mm (green rectangle).

    • The diameter on the exchanger side is approximately 62.5 mm (orange rectangle).

    • Install the rigid pipe and push the hoses onto it.

    • Using a 10 mm diameter socket, screw in the 2 nuts. Tighten moderately.

    • Put the 2 collars in place and tighten moderately.

    • Replace the pipe going to the brake brain (purple arrow).

SUPER WELL DONE. EVERYTHING BECOMES SIMPLE. Thanks also for the copper grease.

Well explained, but missing an important piece of information, it is essential to put copper grease on the spark plugs before reassembly, this prevents them from breaking during a future change
