Introduction
Your trunk no longer holds? It falls on you? It's the jacks that are tired! A very simple operation (a screwdriver as the only tool!) to give your trunk a new lease of life!

We start by opening the trunk, and finding a solution so that it doesn't fall on our heads while we change the jacks!
-
It is best to do this with two people. Otherwise, here, I opted for a ski pole, which allows you to keep the trunk open (but it is still best to be two people!).
-
The jacks have two anchor points, each equipped with a ball joint.
-
-
-
The "ball" of the ball joint is held in its housing by a metal ring. It must be extracted using a flat screwdriver.
-
-
-
Once the ring is out, just release the jack with a little jerk. It really comes out all by itself.
-
-
-
We can now compare the new cylinders and those that have just been removed... Same size, same diameter at the ball joint...
-
-
-
To install the new cylinders, do not try to compress them: it is too hard! Instead, open your trunk as far as possible so that the cylinder can enter each ball joint, without exerting any compression force.
-
On the new cylinders, the ring stays in place. You just have to give it a little sharp push to get the "ball" into its housing.
-
Do this on each side of the jack, and you're done!
-
An ultra-easy operation that will cost you very little (around €35 for 2 jacks) and will relieve you a lot when loading/unloading the trunk! (not to mention the risk of accidents avoided!)
