Changing the gearbox oil on a Renault 4L

First of all, unplug the "less" from the battery

For this operation you need a funnel, a bin to recover the oil and a pipe such as an aquarium pipe, with an internal diameter of 10mm, a length of 1m is more than enough.

Assemble the end of the funnel and the aquarium hose to obtain this assembly. Note that the funnel provided in the drain kit

You also need a square bit for the gearbox cap.

First, unscrew the filler cap located on the right side of the box.

It is accessed by passing behind the wheel,

Do not necessarily remove the wheel, simply add an extension to the ratchet wrench.

Reach the filler cap.

Unscrew the drain plug located under the box slightly but not completely.

Place the tray under the box and finish unscrewing.

Let it all flow the oil. Then screw the cap back on.

Insert the 2 or 3 cm pipe into the filling hole, all you have to do is fill. The box contains 1.8 liters, use 80W90 oil preferably corresponding to the API GL-4 standard.

Fill in small doses, and wait until the oil has completely gone down into the box, when it is full it will start to overflow, as soon as this stage is reached, quickly close it.

Reconnect the battery
