Introduction

An air hose may be leaking, a replacement of this can be carried out simply.

Replacing an air hose on a 1.6 TDI

  1.
Open the hood

Remove the engine cover

the hose that interests us is located just outside the air box (which you will know how to locate if you have already changed the air filter!!)

  2.
First, I advise you to disconnect the differential pressure sensor. You will be more comfortable then.

Then, a first tapping. The small flexible hose can be easily removed with a flat screwdriver (2nd photo).

The second tapping is removed by pinching the connection. No difficulty, it comes off by itself.

  3.
The trickiest part of this operation: unscrewing the hose clamp on the turbo side. This can be done with a 7mm socket mounted on a universal joint.

The other side of the hose is a classic circlip which you can remove with a pair of multi-grip pliers.

Once the two ends are separated, wiggle the hose a little to free it from the turbo inlet and the air box outlet. It comes off easily too.

The classic comparison of parts: same diameter of hoses, same length, same connection... And same reference!
    • The classic comparison of parts: same diameter of hoses, same length, same connection... And same reference!

    • Simply do it in reverse order:

    • engage the hose on both sides,

    • tighten the collar with the 7mm socket on one side and the circlip on the other

    • Reconnect the taps

    • Reconnect the pressure sensor

Conclusion

A simple operation that is within everyone's reach, as long as you are a little patient and careful!
