Introduction

Changing the front shock absorbers on an Austin Mini 1000.

  1. Turn the wheels to the maximum left for the left shock absorber
    • Turn the wheels to the maximum left for the left shock absorber

  2. Locate the shock absorber mountings
    • Locate the shock absorber mountings

  3. Remove the fasteners with a wrench, ideally 9/16 or 14 for troubleshooting. To fix the bottom, you need two keys, one for the screw and the other for the nut. Be careful with the yellow spacer for reassembly.

  4. remove the shock absorber by pulling it towards the front of the vehicle Compare bore lengths and diameters

  5. Reassemble the shock absorber. For the bottom fixing in order there is the screw / the suspension arm / a spacer (large washer) / a washer / the shock absorber / a washer / the nut
