Changing the windshield washer pump on a 3 Series E36

Open the hood

Locate the windshield washer

Locate the windshield washer pump

Using a syringe, empty the entire jar

Pinch each end of the connector to unclip it

then pull up

Please note that there are two pump models with different connectors.

Check compatibility with your model

Remove the pump by pulling on it

Cut the rilsan

Pull the hose to disconnect it from the pump

Compare the shapes of the new and old pump

Connect the hose to the pump and add a clamp or a rilsan

Place the pump on the jar

Put the connector back on the pump

Put liquid in the jar

Check for leaks

Turn on the ignition and then activate the windshield washer to see if the pump is working.
