To access the cylinder, you must first remove the rear shelf.

Unhook the loops of the two retaining ropes

    • Remove the two rear shelf tabs from the notches in the upper part of the tailgate.

Secure the top of the tailgate with a broom. This item is very heavy.

Using a flat screwdriver, remove the retaining clip at the top of the cylinder.

Using a flat screwdriver, remove the retaining clips at the bottom of the cylinder.
    • Secure the top of the tailgate with a broom. This item is very heavy.

    • Using a flat screwdriver, remove the retaining clip at the top of the cylinder.

    • Using a flat screwdriver, remove the retaining clips at the bottom of the cylinder.

Compare the dimensions of the old and new cylinders.

Clean the jack fasteners with a cloth and grease the jack fasteners.

Push the hollow end of the jack onto the ball joint of the clip until you hear a "click" of the clip locking.
    • Compare the dimensions of the old and new cylinders.

    • Clean the jack fasteners with a cloth and grease the jack fasteners.

    • Push the hollow end of the jack onto the ball joint of the clip until you hear a "click" of the clip locking.

In the same way as the previous step, push the other hollow end of the jack onto the ball joint of the clip until you hear a "click" of the clip locking.

Replace the rear shelf.

    • Replace the rear shelf.
