Changing the spark plugs on Golf V - 1.4i

Gently pull the engine cover to remove it.

Disconnect the oil breather hose to free the engine compartment cover.

Unscrew the oil filler neck a quarter turn to access the two left spark plugs.

Use a screwdriver to pry the pencil-type coils upwards.

Unplug the plug to completely remove the coil.

Unscrew your spark plugs using a 16mm spark plug wrench.

Compare spark plugs and check compatibility.

Insert your new candles in its location.

Screw it in by hand to start with, so as not to damage the thread.

Tighten the spark plug to the torque recommended by the manufacturer and available in your maintenance booklet.

Reconnect all the reels and put them back together.

Replace the oil filler neck.

Replace the engine cover by reconnecting the breather hose and aligning the clips with the fasteners.

You can then start the engine!
