Parts
-
-
The hood release handle is located under the steering wheel, pull it to open it
-
Pull the handle under the hood on the right side and then open the hood
-
-
-
The 4 spark plugs are located behind the rocker cover on top of the engine
-
Remove the 4 ignition cables by simply pulling on them, these are connected to the spark plugs
-
-
-
Once the 4 ignition cables are removed you have access to the spark plugs
-
-
-
You will need a medium sized ratchet , a large extension and most importantly a long 16 socket to remove the spark plugs.
-
Place the socket on top of the spark plug then loosen the spark plugs
-
The spark plugs come out easily and should stay in the socket when reassembling the socket
-
Repeat the operation on the other 3 candles
-
-
-
Compare the dimensions of the new spark plugs with the old ones. My spark plugs were worn out (on the left)
-
The number of electrodes (on the head) may vary depending on the make and model of the spark plug but does not alter the assembly in any way.
-
-
-
Place the new spark plug into the 16mm long socket.
-
Place the spark plug and socket in its location and tighten.
-
The torque value for a 16 mm diameter spark plug is approximately 25 to 35 Nm. If you do not have a torque wrench to perform precise tightening, this corresponds to a fair tightening, neither too strong nor too weak .
-
Repeat the operation on the other 3 candles
-
-
-
Replace the 4 ignition cables on the spark plugs
-
Start your engine to check that your new spark plugs are working properly.
