Introduction

This tutorial helps you to change the rear shock absorbers on Seat Ibiza IV 1.4 TDi FAP 80 hp

  1. 
Choose a flat area and chock the front wheels.

Place the box on the candle: Securing the vehicle: removing and refitting the wheel
  2. 
16 flat key

Loosen the bottom screw using a 16 socket.

Loosen the bottom screw using a 16 socket.
    • 16 flat key

    • Loosen the bottom screw using a 16 socket.

  3. 
Shock absorber stop which is fixed to the chassis by 2 screws of 16.

Unscrew the 2 16 mm screws

Unscrew the 2 16 mm screws
    • Shock absorber stop which is fixed to the chassis by 2 screws of 16.

    • Unscrew the 2 16 mm screws

  4. 
Leverage with the flat screwdriver

Leverage with the flat screwdriver

    • Leverage with the flat screwdriver

  5. 
Compare old and new shock absorber

Remove shock absorber stop

Shock absorber protection
    • Compare old and new shock absorber

    • Remove shock absorber stop

    • Shock absorber protection

    • Unscrew the nut using the 16 wrench while holding the stud with the adjustable wrench to prevent the shock absorber from turning.

  6. 
Assemble the bellows and the plastic protection

Insert the bellows into the shock absorber stop

Insert the stop and the protective bellows into the shock absorber axle
    • Assemble the bellows and the plastic protection

    • Insert the bellows into the shock absorber stop

    • Insert the stop and the protective bellows into the shock absorber axle

  7. 
Reposition and screw the shock absorber stop

Reposition the lower shock absorber mounting

Reposition the lower shock absorber mounting
    • Reposition and screw the shock absorber stop

    • Reposition the lower shock absorber mounting

Rear shock absorber upper mount:

- 1st pass: 3 daNm

- 2nd pass: 90°

Rear shock absorber lower mounting:

- 1st pass: 4 daNm

- 2nd pass: 90°

Rear shock absorber rod nut: 2 daNm
