Introduction

This tutorial aims to help you replace the front brake pads on Renault Scénic 3 - 1.9 DCi FAP 131 CV

  1. The wheel can be placed under the rocker panel. Start with the driver's side wheel. For better accessibility, rotate the disc. Remove the covers with a screwdriver , behind the brake caliper, the 2 plastic covers protecting the screw heads (6-sided keys): 1 cover at the top and 1 cover at the bottom

Unscrew with a #7 wrench (not in a standard wrench set!)

    • Loosen the piston pusher

Pay attention to the liquid level which could overflow.

Before pushing the piston back, remove the cap from the brake fluid container (don't forget to put it back on when reassembling!)

  3. Now you need to use the screwdriver to shift the metal spring.
    • Now you need to use the screwdriver to shift the metal spring.

    • This will allow you to remove the brake caliper with a pad.

    • Extract the spring very carefully.

  4. Carefully remove the caliper : one pad comes with the caliper and the other remains facing the brake disc.

    • Be careful when you remove the pad that remained in the caliper.

    • Before replacing the pads, you must compress the piston again otherwise you will not be able to put them back in place.

    • Check the correspondence between the old and new pads

    • Clean the caliper and disc using a brush.

    • Reposition the new brake pads.

Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Whether there are 4 or 5 studs is not important since the caliper system is the same….

Works very well on Grand Scénic 3 2.0 Dci 160 Jade from 2010/02. Remember to check the brake level in the reservoir and empty it with a syringe when it rises when you push the piston back.

Hello, the tutorial is the right one, I changed my front brake pads and it's very easy. On the other hand, in the photo of the front hub, there are only 4 tapped holes to fix the wheel while there are 5 on the Scenic 3. Otherwise everything is good.

Pretty clear. I tested it on Scénic III phase 2 from 2013. Be careful, you need a 7-point hex key and not a 6-point key.

Good evening, I think this tutorial is not for a Scenic 3 but for a Scenic 2. The middle of a Scenic 3 has 5 studs for fixing the wheel. Sébastien.

Thank you, I was able to do it without difficulty. However, it should be noted that the hexagon key is a 7mm (standard key sets do not include this dimension, although there are 6 and 8).

Check the thickness of the discs carefully (often close to the minimum dimension), do not hesitate to replace them for optimal braking
