Changing the driver's window regulator

Here is the door as it is before disassembly. You will need to lower the glass in order to unscrew it when needed.

Start by removing the 2 screws on the side (torx) as well as the screw under the rubber of the window push button.

Then unclip the light from the bottom of the door and the push button by inserting a flat screwdriver and levering it. Be careful not to scratch the door trim with the screwdriver.

Unclip the door handle trim using a flat screwdriver to leverage it, starting from the bottom, then gently pull it towards the inside of the car.

disconnect the window switch connection plugs.

Gently pull the door trim towards you starting from the bottom. (I put my hand at the light level to have a better grip). Once unclipped to remove the trim you will have to push it upwards because it is caught in a slot at the level of the window seal.

Unscrew the 3 screws of the window regulator motor and disconnect it from the window regulator mechanism and disconnect the electrical connections. Then remove the insulation (at the red line in the photo) by cutting the putty that holds it. (Be careful, it will have to be put back later, do not tear it off)

Using a drill, remove the rivets holding the old window regulator as well as the one from the window guide (blue arrow) to facilitate the installation of the new window regulator.

Unscrew the screws that hold the window. Then push the window regulator mechanism towards the inside of the door to separate it from the door, then tilt it to remove it.

Reassemble the window and remember to put a shim or block it. This will make reassembly easier.

Install the new mechanism. Do not remove the collar (you will have to do it in the next step) to fix it use the screws provided with the new mechanism.

Put a rivet back on the glass guide (yellow arrow) this will help you hold the mechanism to screw the motor on it.

Now remove the collar present on the mechanism using cutting pliers. Then replace the insulation and then screw the window lift motor. Remember to reconnect the electrical connection to your window lift motor

Lower your window and put the 2 screws back in place.

You can put the insulation back in place.

Here is the hardest part of the work done. Now we need to reassemble the door trim.

Remember to run the push button and light cables from the bottom of the door, showing your trim.

Clip the trim from top to bottom.

clip the light at the bottom of the door, then the handle trim, respecting the assembly direction.

Replace the screws that hold the trim in place
