Introduction

When the battery no longer holds a charge, it is time to replace it. The CRV equipped with the Stop&Start function requires an EFB technology battery.

  1.
After opening the hood, it is possible to locate the CRV battery. It is located on the right side of the engine compartment when facing the car (yellow frame)

    • The (+) terminal is protected by a small plastic flap (red circle).

    • The (-), or ground, terminal is directly accessible on the top of the battery.

  2.
Before releasing the battery, it is possible to connect a car settings backup box to the cigarette lighter socket. A model is available on oscaro.com.

Both batteries should have comparable dimensions in terms of length and width. The new battery (blue) is noticeably taller than the old one (black), but that's okay.

    • The storage capacity (in Ampere Hours) and peak current (in Amperes) of the new battery must be equal to or greater than the old battery.

    • Also check that the position of the (+) and (-) terminals is identical on both batteries.

  5.
After placing the new battery in its housing starting by replacing the + terminal, we fix the support crosspiece and tighten the terminals on the battery terminals. (see steps 2 and 3 of this tutorial)

    • Check that the car starts and that the accessories work (ventilation, electric windows, etc.)

    • The old battery must be taken to an approved collection and recycling center: recycling center, garage, auto center, etc.
