Changing the battery and battery terminals on Twingo 1

Start by unscrewing the BLACK (-) terminal first.

Then, unscrew the RED (+) terminal.

Block the pods so that they do not move.

Always start by unscrewing the negative terminal, and never allow the battery terminals to come into contact with metal objects such as a tool.

Locate the rod that holds the battery. Unscrew it using a socket and a ratchet wrench.

You can now remove the battery.

Check the battery characteristics (amperage, capacity and dimensions) and compare them with those of the new battery. You will easily find the right battery for your car on Oscaro.

It is possible that the inside of the terminals may remain stuck to the battery terminals. This can happen especially if the battery is old or has leaked. You can try to remove them using pliers, but gently so as not to break them. If this is not possible, you will need to replace the terminals as in the following steps.

Using a ratchet wrench, unscrew the bolt that holds the metal plates to the terminal connector.

Compare the old and new terminals to verify that they are the same.

Screw the connectors back onto the new terminal.

Place the plastic protection.

Place the new battery in its location.

Connect the terminals by screwing them onto the new battery, starting with the RED (+) terminal.

Always replace the positive terminal first.

Once the two lugs are reassembled, screw the retaining plate back on, still using a ratchet wrench.

Congratulations, your battery is brand new as are your terminals!
