Introduction

This tutorial allows you to change the spark plugs on a Seat Ibiza IV 6J petrol.

Changing your spark plugs will help you stop the symptoms of a

defective spark plug:

-Difficulty starting

- Engine misfires

-Poor fuel economy

-Slow acceleration

  1. 
First, disconnect the terminal on the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical hazard.

Identify the plastic cover under which your ignition coils are located. And unclip it

So now you have a visual of the 4 ignition coils that the spark plugs are in.

In our case 4 coils, one in each cylinder.

    • Unclip the clips holding the cables so that you can easily remove the reels,

    • Once the coils are removed, you have a visual of the candles at the bottom of the tubes.

Remove the spark plugs using a ratchet, a ratchet extension and a 16 mm spark plug socket.

Once the spark plugs have been removed, install the new spark plugs using a torque wrench to adjust your tightening torque according to the instructions on the spark plug packaging, 28Nm in my case.

    • Check that the new part matches yours then reassemble in the reverse order.

Good morning,

In step 3, it is important to specify that to unclip the connectors, you must use needle-nose pliers or a paper clip because you must press on the pushers located below the connectors (small footprint).
