Introduction
How to replace your car battery simply and safely.
Please note that modern vehicles equipped with numerous computers require careful handling. A rest period is necessary before disconnecting the battery (3 to 15 minutes depending on the model, to be checked in your maintenance manual sold with the vehicle). This same step is mandatory after changing the battery, before restarting the engine, or even opening the door for certain models.

Your vehicle's battery is located in the engine bay and may be protected by a plastic cover that must be removed while it is being replaced.

Some batteries may also be located in the trunk, under the passenger and driver seat, or even under the back seat.

Your battery is connected to your vehicle by two terminals, one + and one -

Start by removing the pod - to avoid any risk of short circuit with the tool

In case no tools are needed for the terminal + (limited risk). You must therefore start by removing the +, common things on modern vehicles

A mounting plate prevents the battery from moving and becoming disconnected

Remove the mounting plate to release the battery

Using the handle on the battery, remove the battery from its location by pulling it upwards.

Compare the dimensions of the new battery to the old one, it is important to keep the same template otherwise the battery may not fit if too big or impossible to fix if too small

There are 3 values to check before purchasing the new battery:

Tension (V): the voltage delivered by the battery, mostly 12 Volts for cars. -
Ampere-hour (Ah): Represents the battery's ability to hold a charge over time, here 62Ah. We must choose a battery with the same amperage or as close as possible to it -
Amperage (A): Represents the power delivered by the battery at the time of starting, a less powerful battery will probably not be able to start your vehicle. -
So we choose to change to a battery of 12V - 62Ah - 560A, against 12V - 62Ah - 500A previously. The new battery is therefore more powerful but retains its storage capacity, voltage and of course its size

Replace the terminal + in first

You can take this opportunity to check the condition of your terminals, clean them if necessary

Replace the terminal -

Push the terminal in correctly if necessary.

Tighten the terminal

Changing on scenic 3 a bit of a hassle but honestly 30 min everything is done. When plugging in message “new battery?” just put yes and that's it. All the electronics reboot and it's off again

On my automatic Mercedes B-Class, you need to have the fingers of a midwife, a small suitcase and not have back pain. Two workers worked on it for half an hour. For my car, the tutorial for replacing it does not correspond at all to reality. It cost me more but I left satisfied and calm.
