Introduction

This tutorial helps you to change your fuel filter on Toyota Corolla 1.4L D-4D 90ch

  1.

Pull the 4 metal clips

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the clamp on the air hose then remove the hose

remove the top of the air box then remove the filter

unclip the 2 electrical plugs

Undo the clamps on the two diesel hoses using the multi-grip pliers then remove the hoses

Undo the 2 screws with the 12 mm socket

Remove the filter (with its support)
    • Undo the clamps on the two diesel hoses using the multi-grip pliers then remove the hoses

    • Undo the 2 screws with the 12 mm socket

    • Remove the filter (with its support)

    • unclip the eclectic plug of the diesel filter (red arrow photo 2 and 3) on the filter support.

put the filter in the vice (photo 1)

Using the multigrip pliers, remove the lower part of the filter

place the filter holder in the vice and loosen the filter with a filter wrench

Compare old and new fuel filter (length, diameter)

Reposition the filter holder on the new cartridge and hand tighten

Change the gasket (supplied with the filter) on the lower part of the filter (photo 2)

Then tighten by hand or using pliers
    • Reposition the filter holder on the new cartridge and hand tighten

    • Change the gasket (supplied with the filter) on the lower part of the filter (photo 2)

    • Then tighten by hand or using pliers

  10. 
Place the filter in its location and tighten the 2 12 mm screws then the 2 fuel hoses

Connect the 2 electrical plugs

Clip the eclectic plug onto the filter holder
    • Place the filter in its location and tighten the 2 12 mm screws then the 2 fuel hoses

    • Connect the 2 electrical plugs

    • Clip the eclectic plug onto the filter holder

  11. 
Replace the air filter and the top of the air box.

then replace the hose with the clamp
    • Replace the air filter and the top of the air box.

Press the priming pump until the pump is completely hard.

Start the engine
    • Press the priming pump until the pump is completely hard.

    • Start the engine

Very clear and very useful tutorial. Small detail corrections: it says éCLECTIque several times instead of éLECTRIque.

FYI, on the 2002 Corolla E120 2L D4D, there are 3 hoses. And it is better to remove the lower air filter tray (3 10mm screws) to access the connectors.

Thank you for this very clear tutorial. 4 hoses and 2 connectors on my model but it comes to the same thing. On the other hand, I recommend removing the air hose to have more practical access.
