Introduction
How to use a piston pusher on your caliper, a mandatory step when changing brake pads, especially when the handbrake is connected to it, which involves rotating the piston at the same time as applying pressure to move it back.
Please note that on some vehicles there may be a different direction of rotation between the right and left caliper, the risk is to completely remove the piston from the caliper if the direction is not respected, the clockwise direction is the most common, as here.

-
-
Retrieve the piston pusher body and plate from the case
-
Choose a tip that is suitable for the size and footprint that correspond to the caliper piston.
-
-
-
Position the assembly by engaging the tip on the piston then adjust the distance between the support plate and the brake caliper
-
turn the ring to bring the plate to the stop
-
-
-
Hold the piston pusher assembly firmly before operating the piston pusher using the crank or a wrench if the resistance is too great.
-
Here the rotation is clockwise for both sides
-
-
-
Push the piston back until it is fully seated in the caliper.
-
Rotate the ring using pliers if necessary to release the plate and remove the assembly
-
-
-
Check that the pads are correctly positioned before placing the caliper on them.
-
If the caliper does not fit correctly, repeat the operation, the piston should reach the stop in its housing
-
If the caliper does not fit properly despite several attempts, check the compatibility of the pads with your vehicle.
-
-
-
Repeat the operation on the other side, respecting the direction of rotation.
