Introduction
This intervention is carried out on a Peugeot 306 phase 3.
-
-
Grease splash on wheel arch.
-
Grease sprayed on the wishbone, shock absorber and bellows.
-
-
-
-
Remove the wheel.
-
Remove the staple by pulling on it.
-
Remove the 12-sided protective sleeve which is simply placed on the universal joint nut.
-
-
-
If you are alone, put the car back on its wheels.
-
If there are 2 of you, ask your colleague to press the brake pedal.
-
Use an extension and a 36mm socket to loosen the universal joint nut.
-
-
-
Remove the ball joint retaining bolt:
-
17mm socket for the screw
-
13mm ring spanner for the nut
-
Using a ball joint punch, dislodge the ball joint head from the spindle.
-
Do not cut into the ball joint boot with the tool.
-
-
-
Pull the rocket outward and the gimbal inward then move the gimbal to the side.
-
Do not pull on the universal joint which is simply fitted into the gearbox. If you pull on it there is a risk of gearbox oil leaking.
-
Place a screwdriver in the small bead on the collar and pry it up.
-
Remove the collars.
-
-
-
Cut the bellows with a cutter and then remove it.
-
Using absorbent paper, remove as much grease as possible.
-
-
-
-
Turn the CV boot over and coat the cone with oil (it doesn't matter how thick it is, it's just to make the boot slide)
-
-
-
Present the cone on the head of the gimbal
-
Present the bellows on the cone and slide it completely
-
Turn the bellows over.
-
Place the new grease (empty the bag completely).
-
-
-
Position the bellows correctly.
-
Place the cable ties.
-
Using pliers, block the collars by crushing the collar.

Yes, you have to turn the bellows over and then slide it completely onto the cone.
Thanks! How do you get the bellows over the gimbal? By sliding the bellows all the way to the other end of the cone?
Great tutorial, but could you specify what you are making the cone with?
Thanks in advance !
