Introduction

This tutorial explains the steps to change the tie rods on the front axle. The model used is an e91 330d phase 1.

The intervention is on the left side but is identical on the right side.

  1.

  2. 
Using an 18mm socket remove the screw.

Using a 21mm socket, loosen the nut.

Insert a 21mm ring spanner onto the nut.
    • Using an 18mm socket remove the screw.

    • Using a 21mm socket, loosen the nut.

    • Insert a 21mm ring spanner onto the nut.

    • Lock the screw with a BTR 5 bit.

    • Remove the nut.

Now that the nut is removed on the spindle side, pull the tie rod upwards, it should come out easily.

Using the mallet, tap the tie rod on the chassis side to remove it.

Reassembly is carried out in reverse order.

It came out by pulling on it by hand. At worst, if it is stuck and it is for a replacement, you can take it out using a mallet or even a hammer.
