Introduction

This tutorial explains the steps to change the stabilizer bar links on the rear axle. The model used is an e91 330d phase 1.

  1. 
It connects the rear stabilizer bar to the steering knuckle.

The top screw is held by a 16 nut.

On original BMW connecting rods, you have to hold the 16 mm lock nut while you unscrew the 16 mm nut. For the lock nut, you will need a very thin flat wrench.

On the new TRW JTS510 connecting rods that I installed, you have to hold the threaded rod with a 5mm Allen key while you screw in the 16 nut.
    • The top screw is held by a 16 nut.

    • On original BMW connecting rods, you have to hold the 16 mm lock nut while you unscrew the 16 mm nut. For the lock nut, you will need a very thin flat wrench.

    • On the new TRW JTS510 connecting rods that I installed, you have to hold the threaded rod with a 5mm Allen key while you screw in the 16 nut.

    • Once the nut is removed, uncouple the tie rod from the stabilizer bar.

    • Unscrew the lower bolt with a 13 wrench.
