Introduction

Operation carried out on a Golf V 1.9 TDi 105ch automatic gearbox.

Big advantage on this vehicle, you will not have to drain the gearbox to change this bellows.

Don't ask me for the tightening torques, I don't know them. Nothing prevents you from communicating them via the comments.

Using a 27mm socket, remove the universal joint screw.

Don't forget to remove the washer as well.

I'm not sure if this is an original VW screw. Check before you start any disassembly that you don't have an XZN screw for which you will need a suitable socket.

I took advantage of this operation to change my discs and pads. You don't have to remove them but it will make it much easier for you to access, remove and install the cardan.

Insert a large flathead screwdriver between the inner pad and the disc and lever the piston back as far as it will go.

Hang the stirrup from the spring with cable.

Using a Philips Pozidriv PZ3 bit, remove the screw from the disk.

Using an 18mm wrench, remove the nut from the suspension ball joint.

Using a crowbar, pry up and disconnect the triangle from the rocket.

Using a T25 Torx socket, remove all the screws and then the covers.

Place a small flathead screwdriver into the tab on the clamp and pop it out.

Using degreaser and absorbent paper or rags, clean the coupling housing as best you can.

Using circlip pliers, remove the circlip.

Pull the tripod to remove it.

    • If the tripod does not come, cut the bellows with a cutter and tap with a bronze jet on the body of the tripod.

    • If the tripod still does not come out you can remove one or all 3 bearings by tapping on them with the jet then tap on the bearing axles.

    • Do not hit the bearings too hard and especially do not hit them with a steel tool.

Couple the universal joint with the coupling shaft.
