Introduction

We are going to replace the indicator switch. By removing the 2 half-shells behind the steering wheel.

The most complicated part of this tutorial is to reassemble the lower half-shell without having dismantled the lower part of the console.

  1.
We move his seat back as far as possible.

Then raise the steering wheel as high as possible using the adjustment handle.

    • In the 2 visible holes, unscrew the 2 torx screws using the T20 screwdriver. Standard bits do not fit!

    • The upper half shell can then be removed upwards without any problem.

  2.
We tilt the lower half shell downwards

While releasing the ignition key (don't forget to remove the ignition key
    • We tilt the lower half shell downwards

    • While releasing the ignition key (don't forget to remove the ignition key

    • When it is free from the ignition switch and the bottom of the steering wheel base, you can pull it towards you.

    • There is a large metal clip that holds the bottom of the half shell to the steering column.

    • If the vehicle has cruise control: Disconnect the brown connector, this connector has a button type lock to press to separate it.

    • We will take advantage of this dismantling to clean these parts which are difficult to access.

  3.
You can unscrew the 2 screws fixing the indicator switch to its support. Use a T10 Torx screwdriver.

There are 2 connectors on the turn signal switch. We will start by removing the largest one

It is unlocked by pressing a button on the accessible face (right). We start with this one, because its beam is quite rigid.

    • The steering wheel is lowered halfway through its height adjustment.

    • You can then move the switch to the left to free it from its support. It will then be easier to remove the remaining small connector.

  4.
Slide the switch into the 2 rails of the support to the right.

Until it stops. The screw hole in the bracket must match the hole in the comodo. The screw can then be tightened with the T10 torx screwdriver.

We will put the 2 connectors back in place on the switch. They both have foolproof pins.

    • On the left the small one and on the right the big one.

  5.
If the vehicle is equipped with cruise control, reconnect the brown connector.

In the case of this tutorial, we avoided disassembling the bottom of the console. We will have to play on the flexibility of the whole thing.

We recover the metal clip from the half-shell and place it on the steering column support.

    • The steering wheel is at its maximum height setting

    • At this point, we can test that everything is working properly while stationary. That is to say: Horn, indicator, and all lights. With the ignition key on and turned before starting.

  6.
The half-shell is positioned almost horizontally at the clip level.

We use the hole in the height adjustment control to pass our hand through and press on the plastic bracket of the half-shell. This allows it to be correctly engaged in the metal clip.

The upper part is flexed, while raising the half-shell and pushing it moderately towards the pedal board.

    • Once in the clip, you have to lift the half-shell upwards, passing it behind the base of the steering wheel and spreading it a little at the level of the ignition lock.

  7.
We take care to correctly position the dust covers of the 2 switches at the level of the lower half-shell

We put the upper half-shell in place, paying attention to the dust covers.

We clip the upper half-shell into the lower one. And we put the 2 screws back in place using the T20 torx screwdriver; while holding the 2 half-shells in place
