Introduction
Oil is necessary for the proper functioning of the engine, over time it deteriorates and loses efficiency. Depending on the manufacturer, their lifespans vary from approximately 15,000 km to 30,000 km for long life.
It's a fairly simple operation but it must be done properly otherwise you risk destroying your engine.
Take your time and use good tools to do things right.

It is better to have warm oil to drain it better.
-
Open the hood to locate:
-
Filler cap
-
Oil filter
-
-
-
Open the filler cap but leave it on top so that dirt does not get in.
-
Be careful, oil vapors can be very hot.
-
Place absorbent paper around the oil filter
-
-
-
Using a ratchet, an extension and a 32 socket, loosen the oil filter without removing it.
-
-
-
Prepare a container capable of holding 8L (for 3L engine)
-
Under the car you will find a hatch (it is located in the middle, right next to the car's lifting point)
-
Maintenance hatch
-
Car jacking point
-
-
-
Open the hatch using a flathead screwdriver
-
You can see the drain screw
-
-
-
Place the container under the screw
-
Using a ratchet, an extension and a 17 socket, unscrew the screw
-
-
-
Finish unscrewing the screw by hand to prevent it from falling into the container
-
Caution hot oil!
-
Let the oil flow until nothing is flowing anymore.
-
Put a little oil on the threads of the new screw
-
Place a new gasket with a new screw to ensure a perfect seal.
-
Do not tighten too hard!
-
Clean the crankcase then close the hatch
-
-
-
Remove the oil filter
-
Compare the used filter to the new one to verify that they are identical
-
Remove the old oil filter by pulling on it
-
-
-
Change the gasket(s) that are supplied with the filter
-
Put the new filter in place of the old one

BMW imposes an oil with the LL04 standard
-
The 3.0L engine requires 7.5L of oil
-
Pour the 7.5L of oil into the engine then run it for 1 to 2 minutes then check if the levels are correct.
-
Check the level again the next morning when cold.
-
An oil level should be between the max and min on your dipstick
