Introduction
This tutorial will help you perform your oil change on your Renault Twingo 2 1.2 i 16V TCE 100cv
Servicing your vehicle is an important step for its longevity, so it is essential to do it when the time comes.
-
-
The first step is to raise your vehicle so that you can work comfortably underneath it. Before putting it in place, it is best to install a tarpaulin to protect the ground from oil marks. With the ground protected, you have two options for lifting your vehicle.
-
The first being the lifting ramps as in the photo, once the vehicle is on the ramps make sure to pull the handbrake, put it in gear and chock the rear wheels, safety first!
-
The second is to use a jack, and to wedge the vehicle on 2 candles, be sure to pull the handbrake.
-
-
-
With your vehicle ready, remove the oil cap
-
Then your oil gauge
-
Lie down under the vehicle to access the lower engine, take your square key and your oil recovery tank. Loosen the drain plug, taking care to bring the tank as close as possible to limit oil splashes.
-
while the oil drains, move on to the next step.
-
-
-
-
To access it, you will need to open it. To do this, pinch the hose marked in blue then pull on it to remove it (photo 1).
-
Using a Torx key, remove the 4 screws that close the case, you can then remove your filter.
-
Then replace your air filter, making sure to place it in the correct direction (photo 2)
-
-
-
It's time to change your oil filter after replacing and tightening your drain plug (with a new gasket). use a filter wrench/strap to unscrew it slightly
-
Since the oil filter is located just above the vehicle's cradle, it is best to place a container below this filter so as not to let the oil flow onto the cradle. For example, use the bottom of a coolant container, then completely unscrew the filter while waiting for as much oil as possible to fall out (photo 2).
-
Now replace your filter, having previously lubricated the rubber seal with a drizzle of drain oil that you will apply with your finger. As access is restricted, I recommend that you tighten the filter with your left hand.
-
Remove your oil tank and tools, then take the opportunity to inspect the condition of your vehicle, inspect for leaks, inspect for ball joint play, inspect the gearbox oil level, etc.
-
Carefully lower your vehicle so that it is on a flat surface, take a funnel and your oil can (photo 3) then slowly pour the oil until you reach the maximum level, go slowly because the excess oil can overflow!
-
Once the max level is reached, start your engine for a few seconds then recheck the oil level and adjust if necessary. Also check your coolant and brake fluid levels. Next step
-
-
-
Photo 1, the cabin filter changes every time drain, it filters the air you breathe from all the gases that pass through it when you drive, which is to say that it is very important for your health. It is located behind the central console, it is accessed from the passenger side and under the glove box.
-
Photo 2, for ease, unclip the center console panel by gently pulling on it, release the floor mat if necessary then pinch the end of the filter to remove it.
-
Photo 3, now place your new filtered by lifting the rear so that it can be put in without any snags.
-
-
-
It is surely following the display of the small key on your meter that you decided to do your maintenance, you must now reset it.
-
Switch on the ignition, briefly press the button on the right-hand switch until the remaining distance before maintenance is displayed, then hold down until the display flashes, indicates the new maintenance interval and then stops flashing, then switch off the ignition, the counter is then reset.
-
Remember to indicate the operations carried out in your maintenance log, check the correct operation of your lights as well as the pressure of your tires to finalize your maintenance.
-
I forgot, from time to time cleaning the air ducts can be beneficial in order to eliminate bacteria or bad odors that are there, in this case you can use a cleaning bomb
-
All you need to do is turn on your air conditioning to the minimum temperature and activate the air recycling function, let it cool down, then move the passenger seat back as far as possible, place the can at the foot of the seat, activate it and immediately close the door while the can empties itself.
-
Don't forget to drop off your old oil and filters at a collection point.
