Oil change and oil filter replacement on Fiat 500

Securing the vehicle: removing and refitting the wheel

Locate the sump plug to drain

Perform a few light hammer blows on the cork

Loosen the crankcase plug with a ratchet and a 45 torx socket.

Using a flat screwdriver, remove the flow meter connector.

Loosen the turbo sleeve clamp

Spread the sleeve

To extract the air box, unclip the oil vapor pipe

Unclip the air box by pulling upwards

Clip the suction sleeve down

Remove the air box so that the oil filter is accessible

Locate the oil filter

Unscrew and remove the oil filter from its location

Remove the oil filter from the oil bell

Compare the dimensions and shape between the old and new oil filter

Using a flat screwdriver, remove the seal placed around the bell.

Clean the bell with brake cleaner

Reposition the new gasket on the bell

Lubricate the bottom of the oil filter with a little oil.

Insert the new oil filter into the bell and clip it

Clean the oil filter holder with a rag and brake cleaner

Reposition the filter, screw it in by hand first, then tighten it slightly.

Clean the crankcase plug location

Screw the crankcase plug back on and tighten

Unscrew and remove the oil filler cap

Pour about 4.5 liters of oil

Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean and replace it.

Start the engine, let it run for a minute, then turn it off.

After stopping the engine, pull out the oil dipstick

The correct oil level should be just below the maximum, if this is not the case add oil to reach the correct level

Screw the filler cap back on.
