Introduction

You want to do your oil change and change your oil filter on Renault Clio IV 1.5DCI 75 ? This tutorial will help you do it easily.

  1.
First of all, for the oil change of your Renault Clio IV 1.5DCI 75CV, "Run your engine for about 5/7 minutes so that the oil begins to heat up and therefore be more fluid for the flow. Please open your hood using the hatch located on the left side of the driver's door at the floor mat level.

Engine oil to use according to manufacturer: ELF 5W30.

Once the hood is open, please open the oil filler cap (which also serves as a level), to facilitate the flow of oil.

    • To make draining easier, you can jack up your car and secure it with axle stands.

  2.
There is a protection underneath the car, you will need to remove it to access the engine oil drain plug.

Remove all screws from the guard: Two size 9 hex screws on the rear part of the guard, 4 Torx 30 screws on the front and one size 9 hex screw on the front center.

Once the protection is removed, you can see the oil pan at the front wheel on the passenger side.

  3.
Once the engine oil pan is located, you can therefore distinguish a large round screw with a large square shape inside.

Use your square drain wrench to be able to unscrew the engine oil drain screw.

Place a basin below the drain screw so that the oil can drain into it.

  4.
To access the oil filter, you will need to completely remove the air duct that runs from the air box to the front bumper of the vehicle.

To do this, locate the clip at the bottom of the hood at the air duct level, then press firmly on it and pull towards the engine to simply unclip it; it can be removed very easily.

Lean your head down to the oil filler cap, you will see a blue cartridge, this is your car's oil filter.

To be able to unscrew the oil filter, I advise you either to use a special bell to loosen it or for my part I used a self-adjusting 3-arm oil filter wrench for greater ease.

Place your filter wrench on it, then unscrew it counterclockwise. Remember to put a cloth under the filter to prevent oil from leaking.

Finally, remove your oil filter by unscrewing it by hand.

Remove the jack and stands then lay the vehicle flat so that all the oil drains, then put the jack and stands back on. Now, check that your oil filter is like the original one, then put oil on the seal to make the next disassembly easier.

Repeat the same steps in reverse, just remembering to put a new gasket for the drain plug.

Once the oil filter is reassembled, screw the drain plug back in and screw the engine protection plate back in as well: Put about 4 liters of oil in the engine oil filler compartment. Then start your car for about 3 minutes so that the oil filter fills up.

    • Top up the oil level using the indicator on the yellow engine oil filler cap.

    • In pink: Maximum oil capacity.

    • In green: Minimum oil capacity.

    • According to the manufacturer's technical sheet, the oil capacity with oil filter change is approximately 4.5L.

    Great, very interesting, very complete.

A small downside: missing the size of the male square for the drain plug, and many mistakes in the text.

Hello, should the oil level be taken with the filter empty or full?

Sincerely

Hello

In a comment I read that it was necessary to lift until the wheel came off

What do you think about it?

شكرا جزيلا على الشرح الرائع الذي كان مفيدا جدا لي.

This is very good because it is perfectly detailed. However, what I am missing is the internal diameter of the seal and the dimension of the unscrewing square. I had a 4 L. I hope that RENAULT has not changed anything.

Thanks anyway

Good morning,

1. Turn on the ignition, without starting the engine

2. using the right control, scroll up (key 2) or down (key 3) through the following information by successive and brief presses and go to the menu"Revision autonomy"

3. Press one of the buttons 2 or 3 for approximately 10 seconds without interruption until the service life is displayed steadily.

a+

Well explained, of course, but at no point do they tell you to change the copper seal on the drain plug! Well done OSCARO!

Thank you for this tutorial. Very well explained, however I would like to know how to reset the maintenance counter to zero. Thank you in advance.

Very clear I will follow all the advice, I just looked and everything corresponds to what I thought. The only thing missing is the information on the drain plug seal. Should I use a copper seal or one with a rubber seal.

Thanks anyway for this work :-)

Good morning,

If you have rubber seals it would be better. For Renault I always use rubber.
