Introduction
Do your own oil change on a 1.6 TDI 75 hp and change your oil filter
-
-
First of all, raise the vehicle (jack stands, ramps, both are better!)
-
To access the oil filter, open the hood.
-
-
-
Underneath the vehicle is a plastic shield with 9 Torx screws.
-
Remove it to access the engine housing.
-
-
-
Place a container under the crankcase.
-
Be careful to shift it well, because the opening is on the side, with the pressure, you have to anticipate the jet of oil!
-
To unscrew the cap, a 19 mm socket will be useful.
-
-
-
While the oil is draining, we can change the oil filter.
-
To do this, remove the engine cover.
-
Then, unclip a small connector (without disconnecting it) to make room to remove the oil filter later.
-
A hose can also be moved aside, always with the aim of making space! With the 1.6TDI, the space is much less than in the 1.4 TDI!
-
-
-
A 32 mm socket and an extension allow the filter to be removed.
-
You can finish unscrewing the cartridge by hand.
-
Once you have the filter in hand, you need to remove 3 seals, and the filter itself.
-
On the new filter, you must therefore replace the 3 seals, and simply clip the filter into its housing. Some brands indicate the bottom in relation to the top (bottom: bottom!).
-
There are obviously several brands, but prefer brands where the "pleats" of the filter are staggered. The filtering surface is larger.
-
-
-
Once the filter is securely fixed in its housing (the little clip is proof!), you can screw the cartridge into its location.
-
The RTA indicates a tightening of 2.5daN.m.
-
Replace the hose and connectors.
-
-
-
Now that the filter is in place, you need to plug the oil pan.
-
You can either change the screw and the gasket, or just the gasket. But at least the gasket at every oil change.
-
A little comparison is always reassuring before handling!
-
The RTA indicates a tightening of 2.5daN.m for the bleed screw.
-
Then, add oil to the engine, about 4.5L.
-
On this engine, equipped with a DPF, 5W30 conforming to VW standard 504.00 507.00 is recommended.
-
-
-
Write down somewhere the mileage at which you have done your meat, and reset your maintenance counter to zero.
-
Turn off the ignition, then press the right button (circled in red).
-
While holding this button, turn on the ignition. This resets the maintenance indicator to zero.
-
Press the left button (circled in blue) within 20 seconds, which switches to the normal display.
-
The maintenance key will be displayed in 15,000 km, at which point you will need to think about changing your oil again!
