Introduction

We will perform an engine oil change and replace the engine oil filter on a Seat Leon II (1P) 1.6l TDI from 2010

  1. 
Remove the lower engine cover

To remove it, you must unscrew the screws around the entire periphery of the cover; be careful, there are two types.

Remove the upper engine cover

To remove it, nothing could be simpler. It is just clipped, so you have to pull on it.

    • Warm up the engine for 5 minutes to obtain a more fluid oil.

Place a container (minimum capacity 5l) under the drain hole.

Then open the drain plug (19mm wrench) to let the oil drain.

Now you need to unscrew the upper part of the filter bell (30 socket)

Compare old and new oil filter (dimensions, shape)

Install the new engine oil filter on its support

Replace the cap on the lower engine crankcase

Filling the oil

Fill with oil through the appropriate hole. Start by putting in about 4L (the oil pan is 4.5L, but the engine has a DPF, so you should not overfill it at first).

Check the oil level using the dipstick: The oil level must be between the minimum and maximum lines. Run the engine for 5 minutes.

Reassemble the upper and lower engine covers

    • Finally, we will reset your car's maintenance meter so that you have your correct dashboard maintenance indication.
