Introduction

It is not necessary to change the oil with the engine hot, however, warm oil flows much better.

We work on flat ground, gloves and glasses recommended. I am doing this tutorial on a pit but the emptying can be done directly on the ground, access is sufficient.

  1. remove the oil cap and the gauge
    • remove the oil cap

    • and the gauge

    • This step creates a draft so that the oil can flow more easily.

  2. unblock the drain plug using a 21mm wrench This car has a protective sheet metal that I later removed but it is unlikely that yours is equipped with it. If it is, it is removed by unscrewing 2 screws in front (10mm wrench) and 2 nuts in the back (16mm wrench). Place a tray under the crankcase and finish unscrewing the cap by hand.

    • Be careful not to burn yourself.

    • don't hesitate to wear gloves

    • don't hesitate to drop the oil pan plug into the pan, you can retrieve it later with a magnet

    • let the oil drain for at least 15 minutes

  3. unblock the filter using a strap wrench or similar tool make sure the tray is under the filter and unscrew by hand remove the filter and empty most of its contents into the bin

  4. We can compare the shape and diameter of the old filter and the new one but the reference is sufficient: I fitted a UFI 2329300 filter which is equivalent to the Purflux LS867B.

  5. clean the area on the engine block with a rag oil the gasket of the new filter squeeze very hard by hand
    • clean the area on the engine block with a rag

    • oil the gasket of the new filter

  6. clean the crankcase with a cloth replace the copper gasket of the cap screw the drain plug by hand then finish tightening with a 21mm wrench (moderate tightening, torque of 30N.m)

  7. pour 3 liters of 10w40 oil using a funnel check the level on the gauge: the bottom notch represents the minimum, the top notch the maximum (complete if necessary: we aim to be just below the maximum)

  8. put the gauge back in place tighten the filler cap start and check for leaks
    • put the gauge back in place

    • tighten the filler cap

    • start and check for leaks

    • You can turn off the engine and top up the oil: the level will have dropped since the oil filter will have filled up. You will check the level one last time when the engine is cold.

  9. press (and hold) the trip meter button and turn on the ignition wait until the countdown ends to release the button: the maintenance counter is reset (you can turn off the ignition after that)
    • press (and hold) the trip meter button

    • and turn on the ignition

  10. The used oil and the filter will be taken to a recycling center or any other facility that can recycle it. This step is an integral part of the oil change.
