Introduction
Changing the oil and filter are simple operations to be carried out every 20,000 km. Regular maintenance prolongs the life of the car. Here are the 4 step-by-step steps to carry out these operations with reduced tools and at an affordable price. Don't hesitate to get started!

Most of the oil change and filter replacement steps are performed under the car, so it is important to safely raise the car, using jack stands or ramps, before going under the chassis.
-
Once the car is lifted, open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.

Photo 1: Once under the car, you will need to unscrew the black screws (Phillips screwdriver) that hold the aluminum shield.
-
Photo 2: Once the shield is removed, you can access the drain plug (yellow circle) and the oil filter (yellow arrow). Place a drain pan under the engine and then remove the plug (17mm socket wrench) and then the filter (claw or bell-type filter wrench). Let the engine drain its oil...
-
Photo 3: Once all the oil has drained, clean the threads of the cap and filter with a clean cloth (green arrows).

-
Photo 1: We check that the old parts (red arrows) have the same dimensions as the new ones (green arrows): oil filter and drain plug gasket. The plug (yellow arrow) will be replaced with the new gasket.
-
Photo 2: screw the cap (yellow arrow) with the seal (green arrow) back onto the oil pan as well as the oil filter (blue arrow) without tightening too hard so as not to deform the aluminum threads.
-
Photo 3: Before moving on to the next step, we reattach the aluminum shield with its cross-head screws.

Photo 1: Honda recommends CASTROL 0W30 oil. The engine holds up to 5.5L of oil.
-
We fill the engine with 5L of oil and then lower the car onto the ground. After 10-15 minutes, we top up the oil level using the dipstick. You're done, have a good trip!
