Before completely removing the plug, place a container under the crankcase to collect the used oil.

Be careful, at first the trickle of oil will fall quite far, then end up horizontally. Keep a constant watch so that the oil always falls into the container.

Wait 5 to 10 minutes after stopping the engine before checking the oil level, so that the oil falls back into the crankcase: if you check just after stopping the engine, the level may be “a little low” and there is a risk of adding TOO much oil (risk of damage to the engine if there is too much oil).

    • For ODB reset in LongLife or 30,000 km, you must go to a professional who use a suitcase, this one put it in zero for me in less than 5 minutes because we can't do it ourselves.

on the other hand it is impossible to reset them if you exceed 365 days since the last oil change, to remove the oil change indicator light. only works after oil change...a sensor somewhere maybe!!

    Hello Oscaro,

For the tutorial “VW Golf VII Diesel TDI 110 hp Blue Motion oil filter change”: There is an error in the tools listing. To unscrew the oil filter bell. It says 32 mm to unscrew and 34 mm to screw the filter bell back on. I did it recently but I don’t remember the socket I used. I’m not draining now but, you should know that it’s either a 32 or 34 mm socket. Please correct or wait for my next oil change.

[For Golf 7 Diesel] We can add a step, that of removing the oil filter drain plug before removing the oil filter. Moreover, this step is done before draining the oil pan.

Then the tightening torque is 30 Nm for the crankcase screw, 25 Nm for the oil filter and 5 Nm for the filter cap.

Hello

On the oil filter bell in the center of the 32 socket there is a screw that I think is 19. You have to loosen it (be careful, it has notches to prevent loosening) this is the drain of the bell so as not to take the oil on the head.

Stéphane REGRUTO - Resolved on Release Reply

On my Golf 7 model, there are two cables that block access to the bell. You then have to undo the collar that holds these cables.

My Torx are 20 for small screws and 40 for large ones.

Frédéric TOST - Resolved on Release Reply

Great tutorial, the socket for the bell is indeed 32 (extension required), on the other hand the 3 torx screws are T45, and for the 2L tdi engine it's 5 liters of oil (this will avoid having to look at the gauge as you go).
