First, raise your vehicle with handbrake and gear engaged , without forgetting to put candles to work in complete safety.
-
Get under the car below the engine, you can see that a plastic protection panel must be removed to access the drain plug and the oil filter.
-
-
-
On the protection panel you have 10 screws to remove and then simply remove it by pulling downwards.
-
7 screws to remove with a TORX screwdriver with a 30 mm tip.
-
3 screws to remove with a TORX screwdriver with a 35 mm tip.
-
Go around the plate carefully to don't forget to remove some before shooting.
-
I advise you to put the screws in a small jar so as not to lose them.
-
-
-
Remove the upper filler cap , above the engine for better oil flow.
-
-
-
Using the 19 key , unscrew the drain plug located at the rear of the oil pan.
-
Before completely removing the plug, place a container under the crankcase to collect the used oil.
-
Be careful, at first the trickle of oil will fall quite far, then end up horizontally. Keep a constant watch so that the oil always falls into the container.
-
-
-
Remember to put the car flat (remove the jack stands) so that all the oil drains from the crankcase. Put back and always underneath your Golf VII ', you can see on the side of the engine the oil filter (more precisely at the front of the engine crankcase).
-
Access is quite difficult but you can't miss it because it is very visible from below.
-
-
-
Use the 32 socket to unscrew the filter bell, an extension of about 15-20 cm is required.
-
Oil will leak, have an old cloth to put underneath.
-
Your oil filter is now removed with its bell.
-
-
-
Once the bell is in your hands, pull the old one hard oil filter to unclip it outwards of the blister.
-
In red: The bell without oil filter.
-
In green: The used oil filter.
-
In orange: The new seal for the bell.
-
In purple: The new oil filter.
-
There is a gasket on the oil filter bell , to to remove it you can use a small flat screwdriver by leveraging.
-
You can now put the new gasket in the same place , remember to put some oil on it for better application.
-
-
-
Once the seal is put back in place , put the new oil filter in place respecting its direction and pressing firmly on it to c lipsser in the bell.
-
-
-
When you do an oil change , you have to buy a new screw with the seal inside because it cannot be removed.
-
Using the 19 key , screw the drain plug located at the rear of the oil pan.
-
Remember to tighten it without forcing it too much so that you can remove it without any problems at the next oil change.
-
-
-
You can now replace the oil filter.
-
I advise you put it in the oil filter holder, then screw the bell by hand until it is well taken in the screw thread.
-
Use the 32 socket to screw the filter bell, an extension of about 15-20 cm is required.
-
Remember to tighten it without forcing it too much so that you can remove it without any problems at the next oil change.
-
-
-
Start by putting a small amount (1/2 liter) and check for leaks at the crankcase plug level.
-
If possible, use a funnel with a filter on it to be more precise and not get it everywhere.
-
-
-
Use the oil level gauge to be able to check your level, pull it up to remove it.
-
Wipe it with a clean, dry cloth.
-
In red: Minimum level required.
-
In blue: Maximum level required.
-
Start your vehicle for about 5 minutes to allow the oil filter to fill for better accuracy, before starting check to be above the minimum oil level.
-
You can now put your vehicle on a flat, straight surface to adjust the oil level while checking your level.

To reset the ODB in LongLife, i.e. 30,000 km , you must go to a professional who uses a case , he reset it for me in less than 5 minutes because we cannot do it ourselves.

[For Golf 7 Diesel] We can add a step, that of removing the oil filter drain plug before removing the oil filter. Moreover, this step is done before draining the oil pan.
Then the tightening torque is 30 Nm for the crankcase screw, 25 Nm for the oil filter and 5 Nm for the filter cap.
