Introduction

This intervention is carried out on a Peugeot 306 phase 3 petrol 1.8 16V 112ch engine XU7JP4

  1. 
Filler cap

Level gauge

Oil filter
    • Filler cap

    • Level gauge

    • Oil filter

    • Engine drain plug

    • Gearbox drain plug

    • When you drain, make sure you unscrew the correct cap.

  2. 
Turn off the engine.

Open the filler cap.

Place the drain pan under the drain plug.
    • Turn off the engine.

    • Open the filler cap.

    • Place the drain pan under the drain plug.

    • Using an 8mm BTR bit or a 21mm 6-sided socket, remove the drain plug.

    • Let the oil drain.

    • Once there is no more oil in the engine, clean the crankcase well at the plug level.

    • Make sure the old gasket is not stuck to the crankcase.

Replace the old cap in place.

Move the drain pan under the filter.

To remove the filter I use a bell 3/8.
    • Replace the old cap in place.

    • Move the drain pan under the filter.

    • Remove the filter.

    • Clean the gasket area.

  4. 
Coat the joint with new filter of a little new oil.

Put it down new filter and screw it to the correct torque.

Remove the old drain plug.
    • Coat the joint with new filter of a little new oil.

    • Put it down new filter and screw it to the correct torque.

    • Remove the old drain plug.

    • Let the little remaining oil drain off.

    • Put it down new cap and its new seal.

    • Use only one of the 2 gaskets provided.

    • If you have changed the oil filter you will need to add 4.75 liters.

    • Add a little lessoil as recommended then close the filler cap.

  5. 
Run the engine so that the oil circulates in the filter.
    • Run the engine so that the oil circulates in the filter.

    • Check the level then top up.

    • The level must be between the 2 marks.

    • Check that there are no leaks, neither at the level of the drain plug nor under the filtered.

On Oscaro, step 3 click on “bell 3/8” you will access the page to buy this bell. Make sure before that your filter is 76mm in diameter and that it has 12 sides

Or buy a 3/8 bell to remove this damn badly placed filter

Especially with the air conditioning compressor.
