Introduction

The model presented is a Peugeot 406 2.0 i 16V 137cv

Materials required: a 21 ring spanner to open the drain plug, a 19 ring spanner to operate the filter wrench.

Spot well le bouchon de vidange of the engine (do not confuse with the gearbox drain plug)

Place a bowl under the cap and insert the 21 ring spanner, then open the cap by rotating the spanner counterclockwise.

Let the oil flow into the bowl (use a 5 litre bowl to be comfortable.

Wait until the oil flows out of the drain hole and stops dripping, then place a bowl under the oil filter.

Place the filter wrench in position for unscrewing (counterclockwise rotation). Turn the ring wrench to unscrew the filter.

Put a thin film of new oil on the gasket of the nouveau filtre à huile

Using a dry cloth, thoroughly clean the surface where the new filter will be placed. Be careful never to use a wrench to tighten the oil filter, otherwise its future removal will be very difficult.

Tighten the filter by hand until it touches the filter holder. Then tighten it another three-quarter turn (personally I tighten it as much as I can with one hand and that's three-quarter turns)

Fill d'huile the engine using a funnel

Be careful never to put too much oil in the engine. Always monitor as you fill using the oil dipstick. The recommended quantity and standard are given in the vehicle's maintenance booklet (approximately 4 liters of oil for this engine)

    • Replace the oil cap on the engine cover.

    • After driving a few kilometers, wait for the engine to cool down and check the oil level. Top up if necessary.
