Introduction
I change the oil every 10,000 km on this engine. I use 10w40 oil.
This operation can be done on the ground (flat) on this vehicle; access is sufficient. I prefer to drain the engine when it is hot, the oil flows much faster and much better.

the gauges on DW8 deteriorate over time, the plastic head breaks

If your gauge is in bad condition, replace it

The OEM reference is 1174C2.

open the hood
-
remove the filler cap
-
and the oil gauge

This will create an air draft, which will facilitate the flow of the oil.

unblock the drain plug using the 21mm ratchet and socket

Place a tray under the crankcase and finish unscrewing by hand

Be careful not to burn yourself.

don't hesitate to drop the oil pan plug into the pan, you can retrieve it later with a magnet

let the oil drain for at least 15 minutes, until it drips

unblock the filter using a strap wrench or similar tool
-
Place the collection tray under the filter and finish unscrewing by hand

remove the filter and empty most of its contents into the bin
-

-
compare filters: shape, diameter, reference
-
Check that the rubber gasket is properly seated on the old filter. If it is not and it has remained on the engine, remove it absolutely.

clean the bearing on the engine block using a cloth
-
oil the rubber seal of the filter
-
screw the filter very tight by hand
-
-
-
clean the crankcase
-
screw the cap on by hand
-
Install a new copper gasket.

finish tightening with a 21mm ratchet and socket

Moderate tightening, torque of 34N.m
-

fill with 10w40 oil using a funnel if necessary, start by pouring 4l
-
check the gauge (the bottom arrow represents the minimum, the top arrow the maximum: we try to be just below the maximum) and top up if necessary
-
Replace the filler cap and oil dipstick

To reset the maintenance indicator (digital counter):
-
press (and hold) the button indicated by the red arrow in the photo
-
turn on the ignition
-
and wait for the countdown to end and release the button: the maintenance counter is reset
-

-
Start the engine, let it run for 1 minute and check for leaks.

check the level and top up: it will have dropped as the oil filter will have filled up
-
we will check and top up the level one last time when the engine is cold
-

-
The used oil and the filter will be taken to a recycling center or any other facility that can recycle it. This step is an integral part of the oil change.
