Introduction
I empty the tank under a pit but we can work on the ground (flat).
-
-
open the hood
-
remove the oil filler cap
-
remove the oil dipstick
-
This will create an air intake, which will help drain faster.
-
-
-
The drain plug is located at the rear of the crankcase.
-
unblock the cork using a figure 8 square
-
Place a tray under the crankcase and finish unscrewing the cap by hand.
-
Be careful not to burn yourself.
-
don't hesitate to wear gloves
-
don't hesitate to drop the oil pan plug into the pan, you can retrieve it later with a magnet
-
let drain for at least 15 minutes
-
-
-
locate the oil filter: it is in the area circled in red
-
unlock the bell using the 27mm ratchet and socket
-
finish unscrewing by hand and remove the filter
-
Make sure the drain pan is under the filter as oil will leak out.
-
-
-
remove the filter from the bell and leave to drain
-
clean the bell
-
I use brake cleaner.
-
replace the bell O-ring (it is supplied)
-
I use a small flat head screwdriver to remove the old one.
-
-
-
If desired, the oil contained in the filter holder can be emptied using a syringe.
-
I'm not sure this is absolutely necessary as you will never remove all the oil from the engine by changing the oil.
-
-
-
oil the filter O-ring
-
oil the bell o-ring
-
insert the filter into the bell
-
-
-
mount the bell and screw by hand
-
There should be no resistance. If it forces you, it means you are not in the nets: do not insist and start again from the beginning.
-
finish tightening with a 27mm ratchet and socket
-
Moderate tightening, torque of 25N.m.
-
-
-
clean the crankcase with a cloth
-
tighten the cap by hand
-
Be sure to put in a new gasket.
-
then finish with the 8mm key
-
Moderate tightening, torque of 30N.m
-
-
-
clean up the oil that leaked when the filter was removed
-
I also use brake cleaner here.
-
-
-
fill up with 10w40 oil, start by pouring 3 liters
-
Use a funnel if necessary.
-
check the level on the gauge: the bottom notch represents the minimum, the top notch the maximum (complete if necessary: we aim to be just below the maximum)
-
-
-
put the gauge back in place
-
replace the filler cap
-
start and check for leaks (crankcase and filter)
-
You can turn off the engine and top up the oil: the level will have dropped since the oil filter will have filled up. You will check the level one last time when the engine is cold.
-
-
-
press (and hold) the trip meter button
-
turn on the ignition and wait for the countdown to end before releasing the button
-
the maintenance counter is reset (you can turn off the ignition after that)
-
-
-
The used oil and the filter will be taken to a recycling center or any other facility that can recycle it. This step is an integral part of the oil change.
