Introduction

Maintenance operation for changing engine oil and air filter on Ford Fusion 1.6 TDCI

To be carried out for emptying with recommendations and necessary equipment.

  1. 
With the engine hot, raise the vehicle to access the engine oil pan.
    • With the engine hot, raise the vehicle to access the engine oil pan.

    • Lifting the vehicle safely

    • The car will need to be level to facilitate the flow of oil and subsequently the correct level of new oil.

So here is the 1.6 TDCI engine

    • The drain bolt is located under the car in the middle of the engine, more precisely at the bottom of the oil pan. Photo 2

    • Please note that used oil is very polluting for nature and difficult to clean. It must be taken to a collection/waste disposal center.

    • With the oil drain pan ready to receive the oil, use a 21 socket wrench to remove the drain bolt and anticipate the oil flowing out.

    • Pull the air filter cover upwards and disconnect it from its hose.

Seal the air intake hose to the turbo so that nothing falls into it.

Remove the engine cover and the air filter support. To do this, pull upwards. Photo 3

  5. 
Access to the oil filter is now possible

Place an absorbent cloth under the filter to collect any oil loss.

Using a 27mm socket or wrench, loosen the filter bell.

    • Remove the filter by pulling outwards

Check the cleanliness of the oil filter location.

Check the filter holder for impurities.

Insert the filter cartridge into its holder. You need to exert a certain amount of pressure. Photo1

Reposition the assembly in its engine housing by presenting the filter purge in the purge hole. Red arrows photos 1 and 2

    • Hand tighten the filter, then tighten to the prescribed torque.

Check the compatibility of the new filter.

Reposition the filter holder block on the engine by pressing downwards.

Re-attach the cover to the air intake hose and tighten its clamp.
    • Reposition the filter holder block on the engine by pressing downwards.

    • Re-attach the cover to the air intake hose and tighten its clamp.

    • Tighten the air filter cover screws.

    • Reconnect the air inlet hose.

  10. 
Tighten the bleeder bolt with its new seal to the prescribed torque.

Check that the new engine oil is the correct oil for your engine.

Add the necessary amount of oil (3.8 L on this engine when changing the oil filter at the same time). Filling is done through this hole. Photo 2

    • Start the engine to fill the oil filter and check the level of the engine oil.

Hello, There are two sizes of sockets. This is specified in the tutorial.
