Introduction
Maintenance operation for changing engine oil and air filter on Ford Fusion 1.6 TDCI
To be carried out for emptying with recommendations and necessary equipment.
-
-
With the engine hot, raise the vehicle to access the engine oil pan.
-
-
The car will need to be level to facilitate the flow of oil and subsequently the correct level of new oil.
-
-
-
So here is the 1.6 TDCI engine
-
Loosen the oil filler cap, leaving it on the hole so as not to drop anything in. Photo 1
-
The drain bolt is located under the car in the middle of the engine, more precisely at the bottom of the oil pan. Photo 2
-
Please note that used oil is very polluting for nature and difficult to clean. It must be taken to a collection/waste disposal center.
-
With the oil drain pan ready to receive the oil, use a 21 socket wrench to remove the drain bolt and anticipate the oil flowing out.

-
Remove the filter by pulling outwards
-
-
-
Check the cleanliness of the oil filter location.
-
Check the compatibility of the new filter. Photo 2
-
Change the filter holder seal. Photo 3
-

-
Check the filter holder for impurities.
-

-
Reposition the assembly in its engine housing by presenting the filter purge in the purge hole. Red arrows photos 1 and 2
-
Hand tighten the filter, then tighten to the prescribed torque.
-
-
-
Check the compatibility of the new filter.
-
Clean the filter compartment and its cover.
-
Position the new filter
-
-
-
Reposition the filter holder block on the engine by pressing downwards.

-
-
Tighten the bleeder bolt with its new seal to the prescribed torque.

Check that the new engine oil is the correct oil for your engine.
-
Add the necessary amount of oil (3.8 L on this engine when changing the oil filter at the same time). Filling is done through this hole. Photo 2
