Introduction
The barrel of the trunk lock can get stuck. Its replacement is very simple. This model is a manual barrel, without central locking.
For an electric barrel with central locking, simply unplug and replug a socket.
This tutorial concerns the Twingo produced before September 2004

-
Remove the plastic cover from the trunk door. It is held in place by clips and glue. It comes off easily by carefully pulling on it.
-
Tip: To prevent the trunk light from staying on and draining the battery during operation, place a piece of tape over the switch located at the bottom, near the locking mechanism, to hold it down.
-
-
-
Check that the old and new barrels are the same.
-
Remove the metal rod that connects the barrel to the rest of the linkage by pulling hard but gently to unclip it.
-
-
-
Rotate the black ring counterclockwise.
-
This will align the notches, and you can then remove the ring.
-
-
-
Position the new barrel, then the retaining ring.
-
Lock it by turning it clockwise.
-
Attach the metal rod that connects the barrel to the linkage.
-
Replace the plastic cover by clipping it in. You can add some glue if necessary.
-
Congratulations, you have a brand new barrel!
