Slide a flat screwdriver under the clip to lift it and then extract it.

Have someone help you hold the tailgate open while you remove the jacks.

Slide a flat screwdriver under the clip to lift it and then extract it.

Remove the clips by hand

Pull the jack out of the ball joint

Compare le vérin neuf with the used one

Reassemble the clips on the jack by pressing with your thumb.

Press with your thumb to replace the clips.

Repeat the same operation for the second cylinder.

Good morning ,
It is not easy to identify if a cylinder is lacking in efficiency. In fact, when the tailgate no longer holds in the fully open position and it descends slowly or becomes heavy to lift, it is advisable to replace both cylinders at the same time in order to avoid an imbalance which will prematurely wear out the new cylinder installed.
However, it is possible to evaluate the strength of each by unhooking one jack at a time from the tailgate to try to determine which is the most effective, paying close attention to the significant weight of the tailgate without the jacks.
