We are going to change the silent blocks and upper wishbone ball joints on a 1982 Renault 5 GTL'

Be careful to respect the lifting points

Using the ball joint remover, uncouple the ball joint from the upper triangle.

Tighten the 19 nut under the manifold in the engine compartment with a flat wrench.

Tighten a lock nut on the rack side and then release the nut under the collector.

Pull the axle and remove the nut and locknut to be able to pass it flush with the brake lines.

Unhook the expansion tank to remove the axle then the triangle

Remove the battery and coil. (in red)

As for the driver's side, lock nut on the battery side, extract the nut on the coil side then remove the axle flush with the brake lines (in green)

Use the tool made with a 10mm threaded rod, an 18 Facom socket which will rest on the silent blocks, a 30 socket opposite.

remove the 4 silent blocks.

You can now clean and repaint your triangles.

Change the ball joint, remembering to put the fixing plate on top of the triangle

-
Proceed in reverse order to reattach the triangles to the vehicle.

Reattach the battery, coil and expansion tank
-
reconnect the 2 suspension ball joints by tightening the conical axle with vice-grips or multi-grip pliers

Replace the wheels, check the torque of the ball joints after 500 km
