Introduction

This tutorial explains how to change the brake kit on a Ford Fiesta 5

Unscrew and remove the central drum bolt with a ratchet and a 30 socket.

Remove the brake kit by pulling it towards you, be careful that it is still attached to the handbrake cable

Place a container to collect the brake fluid

To drain the brake fluid, loosen the brake hose (placed behind) with vice grips then unscrew it with the 11 mm open-end wrench.

Replace the wheel cylinder

Lock the jaw so that the brake cable can be inserted into the hole

Insert the rod into the hole from behind

Adjust the automatic catch-up by rotating the wheel with a flat screwdriver

Replace the drum and check that there is slight friction with the brake kit by rotating the drum, if not turn the wheel until the drum rubs lightly with the brake kit

    • Adjust the automatic catch-up by rotating the wheel with a flat screwdriver

Replace the central bolt and tighten firmly (torque wrench or an iron bar)

Check again that the drum rubs lightly with the brake kit by rotating the drum

Replace the cap with a screwdriver and hammer
