Introduction
Description of the assembly/disassembly of the drums, rear brake shoes and hydraulic receivers on Renault Twingo 11.2 55cv
-
-
Remove the central cover using a flat screwdriver and a hammer
-
-
-
Use a heavy duty ratchet wrench with a 30mm socket.
-
Une rallonge (tube of about 500 mm) is necessary to facilitate unblocking.
-
-
-
Le tambour is most of the time extractable without specific tools (by hitting the periphery with a hammer) -
In the event of severe drum wear, the play compensation system should be triggered by pushing the lug through a wheel mounting hole.
-
In the (rare) case of a detached and stuck jaw, you will need to use an extractor (A simple U-shaped 50x25 lgr 200 iron drilled to the Ø and center distance of the wheel fixings with a welded HM12 central nut can do the trick). If you do not have the means to manufacture this tool, you will need to use a specific extraction tool.

-
-
Remove the 1/4 turn locking hex cups (see photo 2).
-
To do this, hold the head (back of the drum), grasp and squeeze the cup with needle-nose pliers, then turn 1/4 turn.
-
Perform this operation on both jaws.
-
Tilt the assembly away from the receiver cylinder
-
-
-
Using needle-nose pliers, push the spring and release the tip.
-
Pull the whole thing together des 2 mâchoires to complete the disassembly.
-
-
-
Unclip the pipe and release the hydraulic connector, seal using a piece of fuel hose fitted with a cap or using the bleed screw plug
-
Remove the 2 receiver mounting screws (clé pipe de 10)
-
Remove the receiver
-
-
-
Clean the flask using a specific cleaner or white spirit.
-
Blow and wipe the parts properly.
-
Grease the jaw bearing surfaces > grease generally supplied in the Kit.
-
-
-
Start by comparing the new parts with the old ones (photos 1 and 2)
-
Re-install the receiver.
-
Screw on its connection.
-
Then place the jaws in position on the receiver, slightly inclined and not fixed to the lower part
-
Fix the handbrake cable
-
Complete the assembly of the lower part (see step 4)
-
-
-
Engage the drum by tapping lightly around its edge
-
Place the new central nut (supplied with the Kit) and tighten it to 18daN/m or (18 kg/m)
-
After reassembly it is imperative to bleed the brakes and adjust your handbrake.
