Introduction

Checking and replacing the rear brake pads on a Peugeot 308 vehicle (here model 1.6 HDi FAP 110 hp)

  1. Securing the vehicle: removing and refitting the wheel Check the wear of the brake disc and pads.
    • Securing the vehicle: removing and refitting the wheel

    • Check the wear of the brake disc and pads.

    • The disc must have a maximum wear of 2mm in total (1mm on each side) and must not have any pronounced holes or scratches. The pads must not reach the iron. If the discs are worn, the pads must be changed.

  2. Release the handbrake lever. Using a screwdriver, lift the handbrake system to disconnect the cable and make it easier to change the brake pads. At the top and bottom, unscrew the brake caliper fixing screws using wrenches, the 13 mm outer screw and the 15 mm inner screw

    • Remove the brake caliper and place it on the wheel that you have placed nearby, so as not to damage the hoses.

    • Tighten the two caliper screws

    • Reinstall the handbrake cable

  6. Reassemble the wheel as instructed in the manufacturer's manual
    • Reassemble the wheel as instructed in the manufacturer's manual

    • Respect a running-in period of at least 300 km depending on the type of roads used and driving. For your safety, increase the safety distances. To preserve your brakes: avoid sudden and prolonged braking.

You also need to have the tightening torque. Does anyone have the info?

Hello, should I put the same screws in the caliper or new ones because in my order there are none for the rear ones?

I have the answer to my question, not on the right, the brake caliper piston turns clockwise, both on the right and left wheel.
