Introduction

Here you will find the step-by-step method to be able to change your brake discs and pads yourself.

The tutorial will show the operation on the right side, because the only difference between right and left is the presence of the pad wear switch.

  1. 
We will start by raising the rear of the car using a jack and axle stands.

Under the car are the locations dedicated to lifting, the 4 large square plastic blocks

then we can proceed to remove the wheels

Remove the caliper retaining spring using a flat screwdriver

remove the two screws securing the caliper to its support

remove the cable from the pad wear switch (right side only), this is connected to the underbody, see photo 1

remove the caliper by pulling it backwards and remove the pads

  4. 
remove the old disc, on this car it can be removed without removing the caliper support, use either a screwdriver or a bolt remover

compare new and old discs, degrease the new disc dangerously using brake cleaner

    • compare new and old discs, degrease the new disc dangerously using brake cleaner

    • Replace the new disc and tighten it to a torque of 27Nm, i.e. 2.7M.kg or 2.7daNm

  5. 
push the piston back using a piston pusher

insert the new wear switch on the new pad

fix the pad on the piston
    • push the piston back using a piston pusher

    • insert the new wear switch on the new pad

    • fix the pad on the piston

  6. 
Place the second pad on the caliper bracket

replace the caliper with its plate fixed on it tighten the two caliper screws to a torque of 25Nm, 2.5m.kg or daNm

    • Place the second pad on the caliper bracket

  7. 
replace the caliper retaining clip

Reroute the wear switch cable and reconnect it

degrease everything well with brake cleaner, you can put the wheel back on and tighten it to 120Nm, 12m.kg or daNm
    • replace the caliper retaining clip

    • Reroute the wear switch cable and reconnect it

    • degrease everything well with brake cleaner, you can put the wheel back on and tighten it to 120Nm, 12m.kg or daNm

    • you can now repeat the operation on the other side of the car
